One Sunday luncheon

Last Sunday, we were requested to sing for a private mass in Villa Escudero. It's supposed to gather more people to contribute more for the San Pablo Church restoration. And as always, it is a pleasure singing and at the same time be of service to the parish. And also with it are perks of having a wondefultime in place where Asian culture is at its best with the over very own as the main brocade.

The mass was held in a house of Don Escudero (one of the most affluent families around and I think the last one that I know who bears the land lord title). The architechture bespeaks of a tropical summertime in Thailand.

Here is a picture of of the drive way with my sister:

After the mass, we had a posh traditional lucheon with the guest. "Rubbing elbows" as we term it in our native tough with the rich is a really bemusing experience since I could always use the training I had for complicated table and social ettiquetes from the old school.

The food's taste was not that superb but the selection was rahter nostalgic and comforthing. Here are some of the few photos I thought of taking before getting lost in the zany entertainment brought by one of our choir member.

The dessert flan and coarse ube with a dallop of thick coconut cream:

While the meal was started with spicy shrimp soup and a edible fern salad , with salted eggs, white onions, tomatoes, green mangoes, and citrus fruit (this ingredient was really original for me)
